Today’s activity was called Independent Living in 3D! We’ve been talking about what it means to live independently and how that might look different for all of us. Some people were interested in living in apartments, houses, condos, or cabins. Others thought more about if they would live alone or with roommates.
As a group we decided to focus on structuring a house in which we were all roommates. The challenge was to build your own bedroom, using Legos, and work collaboratively to build the common areas together. It was a blast! We spent a lot of time on the furnishings and figuring out which size tv would be best.
This activity allowed us to work on decision making, short and long term goal development, stating preferences, communication and socialization. This was such a hands on way to learn new skills!
